SNAPCHAT

Snapchat has become huge in the last few months, tripling its views in the last six months according to the Financial Times and there are more than 6.000 million views every day. No wonder why advertisers are so interested in using Snapchat too. The audience is young, most of them with ages between 18 and 34; this makes it great for brands to reach a wider young target. Snapchat has already passed Twitter and is one of the biggest social networks these days, following Instagram.

Why use Snapchat for advertising?

1. Millenial audience

2. Storytelling and personification of the message

3. Fast and wearable: videos and pictures only remain for 24h

4. Complements other social networks

5. Perfect complement of the off: brands tell people to post pictures and videos with their products in exchange of a coupon

6. Chameleon effect: doesn’t really need a logo or a tag, the influencer who is promoting the product is enough

Geofilters

Geofilters localize people and allow them to add a filter to their pictures and videos. This can be very interesting for brands as they can promote their stuff. Here are some examples of featured geofilters that are advertising something:

Discover & Live

Both Discover and Live allow brands and events to promote themselves. In Discover, different newspapers, websites or magazines post a 24h story with some things that they think users may find interesting.

In Live, you can keep track of the events that are taking place today in case of happening something big worldwide. This can vary from the Superbowl in the US, to San Fermines in Spain, or ‘Je Suis Charlie’.

Celebrities & vloggers

A lot of celebrities use Snapchat to show their daily lives, but also their outfits or their beauty hacks. The ruler is Kylie Jenner (KylizzleMyNizzl), the most followed person on Snapchat and the queen of selfies. Some other important celebrities on Snapchat could be Chiara Ferragni (chiaraferragni), Rihanna (rihanna), or Gigi Hadid (itsgigihadid).
